The community center includes:
1-A medical clinic (community clinic) mainly for locals - open since October 2018
2-Trekking information center and hiking services - planned opening 2020
3-Equipped class room for locals to learn & conduct classes - planned opening 2020
4-Equipped class room for visitors to use for workshops, team building activities and/or lectures - demo available now planned opening 2020
5-A handcrafts market for female Bedouin artisans to showcase and sell their handcrafts - planned opening 2020
6- Cross-cultural programs:
Tutoring - Visitors volunteering to tutor locals
Residency - Global artists are welcomed to stay & develop their work in our spaces while connecting with locals
Workshops - Visitors attending classes conducted by local Bedouins
Options for nearest accommodations:
1. Eid Lodge is location less than 10minutes drive away from the community center
2. AlKarm ecolodge is located 2minutes walk away from the community center
Accommodations include:
1-Spaces for activities such as basic astronomy observatory, meditation & yoga areas.
2-Kitchen and dinning areas both indoor and outdoor.
3-Rooms for accommodation; accommodates up-to 40-50 individuals in addition to camping areas.
The Clinic:
Due to the lack of proper medical check ups and support from St. Catherine’s public hospital, the local Bedouins face false diagnosis & relapse and are forced to travel to other cities later for treatment as their case deteriorate.
The clinic serves as:
1- Primary medical care services for the locals
2- Main first aid point for locals and travelers
The clinic is currently being built to then be equipped with a proper medical bed and basic needed supplies & devices such as basic dentistry equipment, blood pressure measurement device, needles..etc. These equipment has been determined by a group of medical volunteers and advisors.
